RHDV2 Outbreak in Texas

RHDV2 has recently expanded eastward across the state into the Hill Country portion of the state. At least 5 counties have detected RHDV2 in Texas in 2023. These include Mills, Reeves, Gillespie, Terrell, and Brewster Counties. You can read more Here.

Wisconsin Confirms First RHDV2 Case

August 17, 2022 – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announces that the state’s first case of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Serotype 2 (RHDV2) has been found in three domestic rabbits in La Crosse County. The press release can be found HERE.

New Case in Washington

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) state veterinarian’s office confirmed the presence of RHDV2 in two Thurston County rabbits from a single household. In July 2022, Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease virus Type 2 (RHDV2) was detected in a domestic rabbit from Leavenworth County, Kansas. No specifics have been provided at this time.
