RHDV2 Confirmed in Kentucky – December 17, 2021

RHDV2 was detected in two domestic rabbit in Jefferson County, KY on December 17, 2021. No official press release is expected from the Department of Agriculture at this time as they do not regulate domestic rabbits in the state of Kentucky. Following this confirmed case, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife has requested the public help in monitoring for cases with wild rabbit populations. You can read more about that request here. It has been reported that the positive case involved indoor-only rabbits and that those rabbits had no contact with the outdoors. At this point in time, the potential route of exposure is unknown.
